Import RaceChrono sessions into LapSnap

CSV

LapSnap imports sessions you recorded in RaceChrono Pro. Export the session as a CSV v3 file, open it in LapSnap, and you get lap times, a track map and lap comparisons for that session.

Export from RaceChrono Pro

  1. Open RaceChrono Pro and tap Sessions.
  2. Select the session you want to export.
  3. In the top right of the session view, tap the menu (⋮), then Export.
  4. For Application choose CSV v3, and for scope choose Whole session.
  5. Go through the export flow, then tap the menu (⋮), Share, Save File, and save the CSV to your phone.

Import into LapSnap

  1. Open LapSnap, tap the plus button and choose RaceChrono.
  2. Tap Select CSV File and open the file you saved.
  3. Choose the track, track condition and vehicle for the session.

LapSnap brings across GPS position and lap times. It needs an internet connection to process the session; after that the session is cached on your phone and works offline. RaceChrono import is in beta, so if a file does not import, email it to support@lapsnap.app.

If a file does not import

  • Check the format. LapSnap reads CSV v3 only. Other RaceChrono export formats, such as VBO or GPX, will not import.
  • Check the scope. Export the whole session, not a single lap or a selection, so LapSnap can find every lap.
  • Check where you saved it. Save the file to your phone's Files app or Downloads folder so the LapSnap file picker can reach it.

What you can do with your RaceChrono data

  • Analyze each lap. Speed, acceleration, braking and your line on the map, corner by corner.
  • Optimal lap. LapSnap splits each lap into four sectors and adds up your best ones, so you see the time you could reach.
  • Compare laps. Put any lap against your best lap, your optimal lap or another driver's lap. Snap to Position lines both laps up at the same spot on track, and the Δt graph shows where you gain or lose time.
  • Professional reference data. At select racetracks, compare your laps against a professional's laps on the same track.
  • Leaderboards and setup notes. Each track has a leaderboard, and you can save tire, gearing and suspension settings with each session.

RaceChrono and LapSnap together

RaceChrono records sessions on your phone or from an external GPS receiver. LapSnap focuses on analysis, so you can keep recording in RaceChrono and review the sessions in LapSnap.

You do not need RaceChrono to record without a lap timer. Since version 2.6.0 LapSnap records sessions with just your phone, and it downloads directly from AiM, RaceBox and GoPro devices.
